INTERMET Corporation (Nasdaq: INMT), one of the world's leading independent manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, announced today that it has received two awards of special distinction from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc., in recognition of quality and improvement performance during 1999. INTERMET's Archer Creek Foundry in Lynchburg, Virginia, earned the Excellent Award for part quality and a Certificate of Achievement for Value Improvement Performance from Toyota. It is the second year in a row INTERMET has received the Excellent Award for quality.
The Archer Creek Foundry produces ductile-iron rear axle castings for Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky. Approximately 500,000 parts were shipped to Toyota in 1999 with no rejections, resulting in a PPM (parts per million) rejection rate of zero.
