NT: Queensland first to contribute to fed govt's intervention

Ten Queensland police officers will arrive in the Top End this weekend .. to support
Canberra's emergency intervention.

The contingent .. to be accompanied by three officers from the Federal Police .. will
begin their training in Darwin on Monday.

The officers are the first to respond to the federal government intervention .. and
should be ready for deployment to Aboriginal communities by the end of the first week
in September.

Police from New South Wales and Tasmania are expected to start in late September ..

while discussions are continuing with Victoria.
