Qld: Clothing store to face court action over nightwear

BRISBANE, Feb 16 AAP - A Melbourne-based clothing retailer has been summonsed to appear
in the Federal Court in Brisbane over allegations it sold children's nightwear that did
not meet national safety standards.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) brought the action against
Dimmeys Stores Pty Ltd over girls' nightdresses purchased at a Dimmeys store at Richmond
in Melbourne in November.

The ACCC said the garments were T-shirt style nightdresses of the "Just Dreaming" brand.

The latest action follows criminal proceedings begun in November against Dimmeys for
supplying in Townsville items of children's nightwear that did not comply with the mandatory
standards.

Following a request from the ACCC, Dimmeys began a chain-wide product safety recall
of the "Just Dreaming" nightdress with an offer of a full refund or replacement garment.

Dimmeys has been summonsed to appear on 22 February.
